FAQ

What is an escape room?

An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are immersed into a scenario and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit.

Basically, you and your friends will be starring in your own adventure; like starring in an action movie.  Think "Saw" meets "Sherlock Holmes".

HOW MUCH IS IT?

Our rooms range from $25 to $33 per person based on popular demand.  For large groups that require multiple bookings, please call us at 803-602-2433.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Reservations are available Tuesday thru Sunday (closed on Monday).  Click the BOOK NOW button at the top of this page to see availability and times.

IF WE DON'T BOOK ALL SLOTS, WILL WE PLAY WITH STRANGERS?

Other players may join you and book any available slots.  Escape rooms require a lot of teamwork, so having more help is going to increase your chances of winning.  In addition, you will probably make some new friends in the process, and who doesn't want more friends? :)

If you prefer to have a private VIP experience, simply book all available slots.  You will pay a little extra, but it will be a PRIVATE experience for you and your friends.  Better yet, get more friends and family to join you and book the extra spots.  They will be thanking you for convincing them to try this crazy new adventure.

WHAT IF WE NEED TO CHANGE AN EXISTING BOOKING OR CANCEL?

Click on the link at the bottom of your confirmation email, or call 803-602-2433. We have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy.  If you need to cancel or change your booking, you must make the changes at least 48 hours before you booking.  If you cancel 48 hours, or less, of your booking time, your credit card will be charged the full amount of your booking.

DO WE NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

Yes.  Availability is limited.  You need to book in advance to reserve your experience.  Bookings can be made online or by calling 803-602-2433.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO PLAY?

The Vampyr is recommended for ages 13 and up.  However, this is our most challenging room with a 20% success rate.  If younger children are playing, wee recommend at least a few adults playing with them to help with the harder puzzles.

We also have the Sacrifice and Blackout.  These rooms are spooky in nature and can be slightly intense for young players.  We recommend players ages 16 and up for these rooms.

Regardless of the room you choose, kids 15 and younger MUST be accompanied by at least one adult to participate.

If you are booking with players 15 or younger, please book a private event or call 803-602-2433.  We are happy to accommodate you and your family.  We can discuss options to make sure you get the BEST experience for your group.

IS THE FINAL DOOR GOOD FOR CORPORATE TEAM BUILDING?

ABSOLUTELY! Escape rooms are perfect for team building as they require communications, collaborations, thinking outside the box, problem solving, and more.  We specifically design our rooms to require a well rounded team in order to escape.  The Final Door is a popular choice with many companies for team building.  Check out our reviews on TripAdvisor and Google to see for yourself :)

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PLAY AT THE SAME TIME?

Most of our rooms are designed for 2 to 8 people. Keep in mind that if you don't book all the slots, others could join you.

Black out was designed specifically for 2 to 4 people, which makes it great for a double-date night.

The Vampyr is impossible to complete with less than 4 people, so it does require a 4 person minimum to book.

ARE THE ROOMS HARD?

They are difficult but not impossible.  Blackout has a 40% success rate.  The Sacrifice offers an advanced version with a 25% success rate and a standard version with a 35% success rate.  The Vampyr is our most challenging room with a 20% success rate.  If you are playing with only 2 people total in your room, the success rate drops significantly.  We highly recommend playing with at least 4 people for all of our rooms.

You are allowed to ask for clues while playing, so you never have to worry about getting stuck on any puzzle for too long.

IS IT SCARY?

We have rooms for everybody, including some scary rooms and some family friendly rooms.

The Sacrifice and Blackout are designed to be spooky.  Blackout is the more intense of the two.  However, neither room is like a haunted house.  There will not be actors in the room with you and/or jump scares.

The Vampyr is currently our most family friendly room.  Zombie vs Army and Treasure Hunt are not open yet, but they will be fantastic rooms for the whole family.

Rest assured, there is always an emergency way out, and a staff member will be monitoring what is happening in the room at all times.

will i really be locked in?

No, you can always exit thru the door you entered. However this is not The Final Door you exit to win the game. We have worked very closely with the Fire Department to ensure your safety in case of emergency.  Every room is equipped with an emergency exit, emergency lights and more. Your safety is our number one priority.

HOW LONG IS EACH GAME? WHEN SHOULD WE ARRIVE?

Your total experience will be approximately one and a half hours.  You get 60 minutes to try and escape the room.  Your experience also includes a 15 to 30 minute immersive introduction before you start playing.  You should also plan on spending another 15 minutes here for checking in and out.

We do have a cozy lobby with games, beer and wine.  Many game players arrive early enough for some pre-gaming and liquid courage.

CAN WE DRINK WHILE WE PLAY?

Yes!  You can order drinks to be hidden in the room.  Many players will arrive early and enjoy some liquid courage in our lobby.

Did you know The Final Door is the only escape room in South Carolina that offers a beer and wine lobby?  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time if you would like to enjoy some beer and wine in the room.  Also, this option may be denied if a group shows up heavily intoxicated.  We want everyone to have fun, and too much beer severely decreases your chances of escaping, and increases your chances of breaking items in the room (which is not a fun extra charge for players to receive).  We recommend one or two beers per player for the hour and a half total experience.  Bring your ID if you want to drink.
